Life in Barcelona pt. 1

My first month of the traineeship has passed and I admit not having time AT ALL to publish something here and keep you updated.
This past month was full of discoveries and new experiences. My working schedules are basically the same every day, varying only from time to time. When I am not working I try to dedicate my spare time to explore this beautiful city alone or, with dear friends I have already made in this wonderful place.
The city is extremely welcoming and always packed with people, which makes you feel alive every time you take a simple stroll around. Besides, in each and every corner you can encounter art and culture in many forms and variations.
During this first half of my stay in Barcelona I have been not only fully committed at work, but I have also enjoyed as much as possible.
I have mostly worked during the evenings at the hostel reception, receving the guests in and providing them with proper assistance, mostly in Spanish, English and Portuguese. During the evenings, besides the reception tasks, we always hold events at the hostel, for the guests to get to know one another, usually after 20:30. These events I usually help organizing, cooking or preparing the snacks or cocktails.

I got the authorization from our manager to once a week hold a Brazilian event, always on the days we are having the house full.
With Brazilian music on I usually prepare some Brazilian snacks to serve to the guests and I stay the whole event making caipirinha (our famous Brazilian cocktail) to sell for the price of 2.50 EUR/3.00 each. The events are a success and the guests enjoy it and enjoy themselves while they taste some flavors of Brazil and see me dancing while I prepare the caipirinhas. :) :) Here I also have met so many nice and interesting people who stay with us, and when they leave, the hostel feels extremely empty.

The picture shows me holding a crown of samba queens that is usually used during our Carnival. It belonged to a guest we were having that was a samba dancer and she borrowed me to take nice pictures as I danced preparing the cocktails.

I will try to keep you posted, if not on time, at some point. ;)
